Sarpol-e Zahab (Persian: سرپل ذهاب; also Romanized as Sarpol-e Z̄ahāb, Sar-e Pol-e Z̄ahāb, and Sar-ī-Pūl Zūhāb; also known as Pol-e Z̄ahāb, Pol-e Z̄ohāb, Sarī-Pūl, and Sarpol)[1] is a city in and the capital of Sarpol-e Zahab County, Kermanshah Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 34,632, in 8,210 families.[2]
There are several reliefs from Lullubian period in Sarpol-e Zahab.
The population of Sarpol-e Zahab comprises Kurds who speak Kalhori, Gorani, and Sorani (Jaf) dialects of Kurdish, and are respectively adherents of Shia Islam , Yarsanism and Sunni Islam.
